Board edges gilt, inner gilt dentelles; a.e.g. Slight wear to the corners. School prize bookplate from Eton on the front paste down.Latin edition of Horace based principally on the editions of Zeune, Gesner and Bothe. Said to be a sly but never insensitive man, a sometimes aloof lover of independence who was also a devoted friend of the emperor Augustus, of Męcenas, and of Vergil, Horace was an Epicurean in good times and a stoic in adversity.
