An early (first?) issue of this popular promotional cookery guide, without the American recipes found in some issues. It had reached its 5th edition by 1923. The family owned business amalgamated in 1921 with that of Henry Tate to become Tate & Lyle Ltd.

The old flat, gold tooled spine re-laid. New endpapers of matching handmade paper. Water stain, mostly marginal at the foot of first and last pages, otherwise internally clean and tight. The second French edition of the most important Spanish account of their Central American discoveries, the first French edition having appeared in 1598. A very nice copy.
