Prognistications, dreams, witchcraft and ghosts all figure large in Aubrey's accounts.

Faint ink stains to the fore edge of some leaves and a small candle burn to the blank foot of D7. A very good copy. ESTC S 2504 with 2 locations in UK and 2 in USA. It is sometimes found bound with two other pseudo-Augustinian devotional works but from the number of separately bound copies of various editions listed by ESTC it must also have been available separately. Thomas Rogers (c.1553-1616) was vicar of Horringer, Suffolk. An active controversialist, he published a number of translations of popular religious texts, the best known being his translation of Thomas Kempis in 1580. He frequently claims that his translations are 'purged from divers superstitious points' or similar wording.

4to in 8s. Three items in one volume. Bound in eighteenth century half calf, rubbed . Some wear on edges and corners, front joint tender at head but boards firmly attached. Contents clean and tight, with early marginalia in places. Occasionally trimmed close to catchwords. Babington's works on the Commandments and on the Lords Prayer date from his time spent in the 1580s as chaplain to the Herbert family at Wilton. He published his notes on Genesis in 1592 whilst serving as Bishop of Llandaff. The second edition of 1596 is expanded to more than twice the length of the first printing.

Contemporary sheepskin, neatly rebacked. Spine tooled in blind, original endpapers preserved. Some paper browning on edges. A very good copy. First published in 1637/8, Bacon's popular text was expanded through succeeding editions with an edition appearing as late as 1845. This is a typical Tracy production, issued in chapbook form from his premises at the Three Bibles on London Bridge. ESTC N56163, located at O(Regents Park Coll.) only.
