Devoted to the revival of the Hebrew language and culture, he coined the term "New Hebrew, " referring to a desired, beautiful, post-Diaspora culture. For him the Jewish Diaspora was everything hated and ugly. "Cahan's poetry revolves around two axes - messianism and the fusion of three major principles: beauty, holiness, and happiness.
