The book was written by a young John Rae who went on to become one of Britain's best known educators, and most influential headmaster of Westminster School. The dustjacket was designed by Raymond Briggs - one of his very first professional illustration works. The dustjacket is worn, torn, tanned and scuffed. It is, however, intact, whole and dramatic. The board covers have been knocked a bit on the edges. However, it is overwhelmingly smart and sound and secure. Inside, the contents are in very good condition.
