With a frontispiece engraving of Thomas Fowell Buxton and another engraved plate of William Wilberforce. Some fading to the cloth and a touch of very occasional spotting. A very good copy in the uncommon dust wrapper, non-price-clipped but slightly toned and dust marked, with several tiny areas of loss from the spine panel ends. An important volume on the history and abolishment of slavery, penned by Sir John Harris to celebrate the centenary of abolition in Great Britain. A copy with an interesting provenance: an inked presentation inscription to the front free endpaper notes that it was presented to Barry Cambray Bloomfield, librarian and the bibliographer of Philip Larkin and W.H.Auden, by the Anti-Slavery Society in recognition of his services to the Society in cataloguing their library..
