Buy this book on-line Ostrer, Isidore : PoemsThe Bodley Head, London, 1957
78 pages (complete). Signed by Isidore Ostrer on the back page (dated Nov 1958). On the same page, by another hand, an inscription of some verse dated 10th Sept. 1975 which was just a few after Ostrer's death. In general fair, decent condition. Ostrer was a financier of some considerable success - although his success was a mystery to all members of his family. His wealth, however, enabled him to found and become president of The Gaumont British Picture Corporation (he later sold this to Rank). He also backed Logie Baird. In more whimsical ways he was indulged by Claridges by adjusting the lighting in the Restaurant to his taste and his heavy handed blue rinse was ignored. His daughter, Pamela (who was quarrelsome after her father's death), married James Mason. Marbled boards and cloth spine. The covers are worn, marked and scuffed. The spine is marked from handling and storage. Both boards and spine are sound and secure. Within, the frontis and end pages are foxed. The contents are very occasionally flecked with contents. However, the pages are mild, gentle, clear, tidy and generous. fk. Book Condition: Good. Binding: Hardcover.
