This FIRST EDITION is the translation by the English poet, John Dryden. There was another English translation by William Mason, published in 1783 with annotations by Sir Joshua Reynolds. A supplementary work by "another hand", viz; A Short Account of the Most Eminent Painters both Ancient and Modern, Continu'd down to the Present Times is cited on the title; that second title-page is elaborately flourished. once again.
