Friedman (1901-1960) was a Polish Jewish historian. He edited periodicals in Polish, Hebrew and Yiddish, and published textbooks for, and taught at, Hebrew schools. Immediately after WWII, he documented the destruction of Poland's Jews, and worked with Holocaust survivors in East Germany. Emigrating to the United States in 1948, he continued to work with Jewish cultural institutions in New York City, such as the Jewish Teachers' Institute, YIVO, and Yad Vashem.
