He held chairs of anatomy & surgery in Leyden. He edited works of Harveyk Vesalius, Fabricius, and Eustachlius. His atlases of bones, muscles, veins and arteries of the intestines, fetal bones, the skeleton and skeletal muscles are justly renown for their beauty and accuracy of illustration, and for the elegant style of the accompanying text.
