Armitage writes that he no longer has any letters from the French artist Paul Delaroche, with whom he studied under in the 1830;s and '40's. He does send along a portrait photograph of himself, which is not present. Armitage (b. 1817--d. 1896) was an English painter. His work included historical, classical and Biblical subjects..
