He is also recognized for his contributions to the development of motion pictures. Black conceived of the idea of reading a narrative or scrren-play to accompany the rapid showing of lantern slides depicting motion. He did three such "Picture Plays" in the 1890's. In this letter he forwards a copy of his book "Richard Gordon" to a friend and tells of watching auditions for a play.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Very Good.
