A five-part epic poem by Robert Browning (1812-1889), an English poet and playwright. Paracelsus (1835) was one of Browning's first critically acclaimed epic poems. Although Browning states that Paracelsus is not a drama, it bears many similarities to a play and is divided into five parts, "Paracelsus Aspires," "Paracelsus Attains," "Paracelsus," "Paracelsus Aspires," and "Paracelsus Attains." Paracelsus is the name of the eponymous philosopher who has ambitions to learn more of the natural sciences. However, in this quest for knowledge, Paracelsus shuns his cohorts. One of the main messages of Paracelsus is that both love and knowledge matter in seeking truth.. Book. Book Condition: Fine. Binding: Hardcover
