Pp. 361- 2 and 459-60 have horizontal tears with no loss. Binding copy, as is. "Best" edition of this popular medical dictionary, first edited by Jacob Bruno at Nuremberg in 1682. Contains the importatnt 26-page lexicon with medical terms in Greek, Latin, Arabic, Hebrew, French and Italian. Also contains the earliest usage of the term "rubella" (Mettler) and the only known usage of "anaesthesia" prior to Quistorp in 1718. Castelli (d. ca. 1607) was a professor of medicine, philosophy and theology at Messina. The lexicon was first published in 1598 and remained popular through the end of the 18th century.
