This small book can be carried o assist in identification of silver. It contains a detailed chapter on hallmarks with lists of date letters for easy reference and forms a basic guide for readers who are interested in silver generally or who are collectors. It embraces in handy form all types of silver from the historical great salt used in medieval times to a teapot made by a modern silversmith in 1979.Many of the objects described are illustrated with b/w photographs. There are also details about faked silver, techniques of manufacture, style and ornament,Sheffield plate and electro-plate.
Some of the latter titles in this series are known to have become scarce - being recalled and pulped, thereby limiting supply. But when they do turn up they are invariably in a nice condition - this title and example is one of those in both those categories.A really exceptional copy. Since April 2013 and again in March 2015,
and in this year too,the UK Post Office has altered it's Pricing in Proportion template, altering it's prices, weight allowances, dimensions and lowered it's qualifying compensation rates too!
