US,8vo HB+dw/dj,[a BCE] edn. [US Book Club edn with code 592 BOOK CLUB EDITION legend to front's inner flap of dw/dj.] VG+/GOOD+. No owner inscrptn,no clip to dw/dj - absence of published price as a Book Club edn - available only to subscribed members at a reduced price after the original publication date.Wrap-around white background with inevitable age-acquired but slight grubbing to same with author's capitalised,red-lettered name with sunned/faded last couple of letters of surname; capitalised, black-lettered title and a black+gold three-headed animal (eagle, lion, bear) illustration across a black edged,white-bordered red oblique angled band at front's bottom edge of dw/dj; and other black-lettered 'by the author of FUNERAL IN BERLIN and THE IPCRESS FILE' legend across the front's top edge.Spine/backstrip with the author's,the publisher's red background to the animal illustration at its foot all once red-lettered,all are now sunned/faded but the capitalised,black-lettered title is unaffected, rear panel of dw/dj with author's thumbnail b/w portrait photograph accompanied with 5 critic's black+red lettered reviews.Negligible shelf-wear to edges and corners, miniscule chipping and reciprocal loss at head+foot of spine,a pair of small tears - one closed, the other with minimal loss - at front's top edge; 3 corner tips minisculely rubbed with miniscule loss - dw/dj is 99.7% present.Top edge remarkably, with light toning and minimal sporadic foxing/spotting for a book of this age,fore-edges deckled (untrimmed) with very light toning and without foxing/spotting; contents bright, tight, crisp and clean - virtually pristine - no intentional dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners. However,in the book's last signature, pages 9-12 of such [pagination pp309-311] have a production process's (?) accidental uniform identical, overlapping,oblique-angled fore-edges' folds and creases to them - else seems unread other than my collation.Publisher's bright, crisp, clean, sharp-cornered,original red cloth boards with blocked gilt three-headed animal from front illustration to upper board, spine with blocked gilt-lettered spine/backstrip, rear board plain and undecorated,a red+white chequered headband and clean plain white endpapers; front hinge partially cracked, rear hinge without cracking. US,8vo HB+dw/dj [BCE] edn,11-311pp paginated] includes 27 chapters in 10 sections,3 Appendices; plus [unpaginated] 2pp blanks,hal-title+title pages,an epigram page (3 epigrams: a Russian proverb, extract from Kalevala,a Finnish folk epic and Nubar Gulbenkian - quote about Paul Getty),a Contents list/table,a title separator page the latter three all with a blank verso, and to the rear,4pp blanks.   Described hard but fairly and honestly,is better than it reads or sounds.   Visually, the external appearance is acceptable, and even internally,is in a more than acceptable condition/state - notwithstanding the last paginated pages -  for a book of it's 55+ year-old age.It is only the faults described that prevents a higher grading overall.Despite that,it really is still an acceptable example for it's lack of other or more age-acquired detracting faults commonly encountered in a book of a comparable age.                              'The Billion Dollar Brain' is a (US)1966 Cold War spy novel by Len Deighton. It was the fourth to feature an unnamed secret agent working for the British WOOC(P) intelligence agency. It follows The IPCRESS File (1962), Horse Under Water (1963), and Funeral in Berlin (1964). As in most of Deighton's novels, the plot of 'The Billion Dollar Brain' (UK,1967) is intricate, with many dead ends.                           Please contact the seller, particularly ALL overseas buyers for correct shipping/P+p quotes BEFORE placing your order, especially if ordering any multiples.
