He is a member of the council of the American Oriental Society, and president (1903) of the Society of Biblical Literature and Exegesis; he was one of the founders and the first vice-president of the ‘Judæans’; founder and president of the (Jewish) Religious School Union in New York; and is connected with the Jewish Chautauqua Society” (JE, 1906).
