First editions, very good tight condition, two well bound volumes in half leather with faded boards, boards to Vol 1 plain, boards to Vol 2 plum covered, gilt blocking and five raised bands to spine, marbled endpapers, marbled page edges, 576/588 pages including index, b/w engravings and line illustrations (over 180 in each volume - some full page), b/w maps, 3kgs------printed double column, a little rubbed along the edges of boards especially Vol 1 but generally a very good tight set. Although undated there are several references to the famine of 1877 and an account of the Prince of Wales's visit and the proclamation of Victoria as Empress of India at the Delhi Durbar of 1877.
