Privately Printed [By Boriswood though not stated] Limited to 110 copies Signed and Numbered by Hanley on limitation page. This being number 4 being from the Publisher's own library and bought by us from the grand-daughter of the original publishers. Large 8vo. Bound in vellum with leather lettering piece. Top edge gilt, others deckled (uncut). A Fine copy in the original acetate wrapper. Loosely inserted are some 'obscene' passages typed onto two pieces of paper with page references probably used by the family for the court case that was running at this time over "Boy". See notes below. Undoubtedly the scarcest of Hanley's books, private published by his trade publisher, Boriswood, who held the manuscript for three years because of its controversial subject matter (the rape of a 14-year-old girl by a priest). During this period Hanley and Boriswood were being sued in connection with the publication of "Boy", which suit they lost. The publishers Boriswood were advised that, owing to the book's reference to 'intimacy between members of the male sex', any defence against prosecution was futile. In March 1935 Boriswood pleaded guilty of "uttering and publishing an obscene libel" and paid a substantial fine. While Resurrexit Dominus was not officially suppressed, as was "Boy", copies of the book were, generally, not available. The title still remains out of print. Gibbs A11a.
