Two volumes (complete). Together with a Memoir of Wilde by Harris's friend, George Bernard Shaw. A comfortable, gently aging set. A brave publication as Wilde's reputation was still unmentionable nearly two decades after his death. Harris (who had also worked on the Brooklyn Bridge) was sexually profligate. His memoirs were banned for many years. These copies of his biography of his friend, Oscar Wilde, are mild-mannered. The boards are secure. They have wear about the edges and seams. The spines are sunned and worn at head and feet. The titling on the faces are benign. Within, the pages have age related tanning about the edges. The pages though are placid, contented, clean, clear. In volume II, the guttering along page 321 (and early page) is cracked. The security of the book is resolute and sure. The book is comfortable and contented. fk. Book Condition: Good.
