J. M. Barrie was a Scottish dramatist and novelist, known for the whimsy and sentimental fantasy of his work. Barrie’s best-know plays are Quality Street (1901), The Admirable Crichton (1902), Peter Pan, Alice Sit-by-the-Fire (1905), What Every Woman Knows (1908), and Dear Brutus (1917). His outstanding prose works include A Window in Thrums (1889); The Little Minister (1891), a novel, dramatized in 1897; Margaret Ogilvy (1896), a biography of his mother and Sentimental Tommy (1896), a novel.
