8vo. 1976 reprint, xiv, 286pp, appendix, index, 20 full-page black and white illustrations after old photographs, including a portrait of Elijah C. Cornett; also includes several drawn maps, green buckram with gilt titles at spine, an exceptionally clean and bright copy, unmarked inside and out, in dust jacket with slight yellowing at top of rear panel, and very minor wear at spine ends, now housed in protective Brodart. This edition, 1976, was not dated as such, and carries the original 1953 copyright date. It is sometimes confused with the first edition, which, however, was not issued with a dust jacket. This edition also includes a notice at front that the book is being reprinted for the Bicentennial, a point obviously not noted in the first edition. Scarce.. Book. Book Condition: Fine.
