Klein, Alexander : The Counterfeit Traitor

Frederick Muller Limited, London, 1958

285 pages (heroically complete). First UK edition. Alexander Klein wrote, with this book, what has been described as one of the best books written about World War 2. The story of Eric Erickson, who was so successful as posing as a Nazi sympathising Swedish businessman that he fooled his family and countrymen (who disowned him), the Gestapo, Himmler and Hitler (who trusted him implicitly). Throughout the war he spied for the United States giving them incredibly detailed information on the sites of German synthetic fuel plants. His information was to cripple the German war programme. This copy, of this thrilling, ripping story, has been much owned. The cover is worn, marked. The spine is worn to the head and foot but is strong and stoic. The cover is much relaxed, with marking and wear. The frontis picture has been re-attached. All the pages are complete and comfortable. They are clear, genial, sure and safe against the binding. fk. Book Condition: Poor. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: No Jacket
