Previous owner's name on front end paper, a paperclip rust stain on inside front cover. 80 pages with about 25 in the back on glossy paper with numbered examples of netsuke from the author's collection, perhaps 8 examples per page in b&w photos. Binding is solid and square, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Dust jacket is in tatters with large open tears, now wrapped in a protective cover. The author, a London antique dealer, gives an historical and critical account both of the more notable individual netsuke craftsmen and a detailed accounting of the schools formed in the principal towns.
