George Orwell holds a unique place in English Literature.Recording his view of society with all the vigour and clarity of a brilliant journalist,he produced a series of disturbing works which have made a deep and lasting impression on generations of readers.
'Nineteen Eighty-Four' is the classic novel of our time.A powerful warning against the evils of a totalitarian state and a passionate plea for human liberty,it paints an appalling picture of love crushed by terror.Big Brother,Newspeak,
Doublethink and the Thought Police are part of a world to which Orwell looks forward with spine-chilling accuracy - a world which some say is with us now.
'Animal Farm',the book which brought Orwell to world-wide attention, has been read with fascination since it first appeared in 1945.It is the ultimate political fable,a biting satire on revolution and blind idealism and a withering attack on power and corruption.
Cleverly conceived and hard-hitting,the transparent truth of Orwell's message is as awe-inspiring as the story's dramatic outcome.
