Over-Vaal was the official residence of the Administrator of the Transvaal. It is now called Oliver Tambo House and is the official residence of the Deputy President. The dustjacket is in a poor state. It has much wear and tear. The dj front cover has an open tear at the bottom left corner and the foot of the spine. The front and back of the dj are shelving and handling marked. There is wear and tear to the top edge in particular and at the corners. The green cover is strong and firm. There are shallow shelving depressions on the corners. The frontis and end papers have been thinned and marked during storage. The contents, however, are bright, firm, glossy, clean and clear. fk. 4to; original dark green boards with gilt titles; no dustwrapper; pp. (vi) + 195 (including index); pictorial endpapers, numerous black-and-white photographs, 8 colour plates. Gilt a little dulled; slight foxing and browning mainly to endpapers with a few spots elsewhere; endpapers fishmothed. Overall very good condition. History of the house Over-Vaal in Pretoria, which was built in 1937 and originally used as the official residence of the Administrator of the former Transvaal Province. It is now named Oliver Tambo House and is the official residence of the Deputy President. The home is in the traditional Cape Dutch style.
