Original issue of Citizen magazine printed in black ink on beige paper. Pages laid in loose. Front cover features a satirical political cartoon showing Uncle Sam as "an indulgent uncle." 10 1/2" x 14 1/2." Unpaginated, eight pages, complete. A few advertisements included, some of which are illustrated in black-and-white. Paper of magazine is very fragile. Horizontal fold line at center. Magazine is clean overall but has severe chipping and closed tears at the edges, especially along bottom edge. There are splits measuring about 2" from the edges of either side along horizontal fold line. Text may be affected by splitting and chipping but still appears readable. Paper has slight rubbing and moderate age toning throughout. A Good copy. The March 19, 1898 issue of Citizen, a weekly magazine that was published by the Citizen Publishing Company of Los Angeles.
