Amazing portfolio of work by Israeli artist Michal Rovner. [4] p., [20] p. of color photography plates, measuring 30 x 30 cm bound in tan paper boards with large black block lettering. By repeatedly re-photographing her images, transferring them from video to film and back again, and manipulating them digitally, Michal Rovner creates photographic and video imagery that abstract familiar subjects like houses, animals, and people into ambiguous and iconic forms. Michal Rovner was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 1955. She presently lives and works in New York and Tel Aviv. Rovner’s blurry large-scale images of people and birds in some unidentified space transform the concept of border, and force us to rethink our relationship with boundaries as a particular geographic sign system. Rovner’s photographs seem to fluctuate and gradually change, becoming images of uncertainty in their denial of focus. A scarce copy of an elusive title in Near Fine condition.
