Original black-and-white publicity photograph showing a scene from Tom Slater's quiz show, The Better Half. "Slater" handwritten in black pen on back. Red stamp with "Jul 11 1942" and a taped, printed description are also on back. "Tom, Radio" written in black ink on the tape." Photo is clean and intact overall except for a moderate amount of wrinkling throughout, with the most significant in the right margin, and slight glue residue on back. A Very Good copy. At the top of the description is the following: "Lester Gottlieb, Publicity Director, Mutual Broadcasting System, 1440 Broadway, New York; For Immediate Release." The description reads, "Tom Slater, whose quiz program, 'The Better Half,' is a half-hour laugh riot for studio spectators as well as the radio audience, helps a fair contestant nose our her better (or worser) half in a hobby horse race. (When you get your August ration cards this may not look so funny.)" The Better Half aired for almost eight years from 1942-1950 as a radio quiz show on Mutual Radio. The show had husbands and wives compete against each other by answering a series of questions. Couples who did not win were required to sit in the studio audience for the rest of the show..
