Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, England, January 2, 1846, was a Wisconsin lawyer and politician. During the Civil War, he enlisted in the 140th Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry, and served as sergeant of Company D. After the war, he attended Columbia College Law School.
