Original publisher's red-brown cloth binding with gilt lettering on front cover and spine. 6" x 8 1/4." 504 pages, complete. Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Binding is slightly loose (especially along front inner hinge) but is still strong and holding. Pages have slight age toning. Covers have slight rubbin and slight wear to corners and edges. A Very Good copy. Thomas De Witt Talmage (1832-1902) was an American clergyman who was part of the Reformed Church in America and Presbyterian Church. This book contains a collection of short stories and essays of varying topics that one can imagine being told in the evening around the "tea-table." Several of the stories have a religious theme..
