No owner inscrptn to front free endpaper - see rear free endpaper - the side facing its opposing pastedown with faint,residual evidence of removal of pencilled initial and surname,but the presence of the remainder of a pencilled but incomplete address.Publisher's original red cloth boards with bright,crisp,blocked gilt decoration of a left-facing single canary perched on a small and leafy branch with further bright,crisp,gilt blocked vertical string with both single and pairs of bird's feathers attached to it,alongside the main decoration,with bright,crisp, blocked gilt letters to front/upper board. Spine/backstrip sunned,and also with mottling and little or no trace of gilt lettering to same - oxidised - and both head+foot of same affected with fraying, splits and tears with some miniscule loss; rear board plain red and without decoration,beige+light beige publisher's repetitive colophonic-illustrated endpapers - the facing sides of both front +rear free endpapers with off-setting from opposing,respective pastedowns.Front hinge with minimal cracking,rear hinge with partial,incomplete cracking.Negligible shelf-wear,bumping,creasing to edges and corners - corner tips gently curled - but no other major nicks,tears or splits present.Both boards with bleached fliud spots/splashes.Top edges coloured(faded olivine?)/darkened,fore-edges inevitably aged/toned but without foxing; contents overall bright, tight and clean - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners - possinbly unread other than my own collation - no annotations noted.
