This is a story for children,double-pages in colour,b/w on the other side. Most illustrations in colour were done in watercolour, but some were done in oils. For the b/w side of the book,he did most of them with ink but also many etchings. 'Tinker' has the strange talent of finding nourishment by removing holes with his beak,an ability that could even add extra weight to Swiss cheese! The story has many amusing challenges and a real threat, but there is a happy ending. He translated the story into French and that has been corrected and improved by his friend, the writer,Jean de Pingon. An English artist, etcher and drawer, who specialised in fantasy science-fiction artwork, with surreal imagery. Patrick Woodroffe (b.1940,died May,2014) born Halifax,West Yorkshire, son of an electrical engineer.1964 he graduated from University of Leeds, before going on and exhibiting his first showing of pen+ink drawings,'Conflict' at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London. However,he did not become a full-time artist until 1972, the year in which he gave an exhibition of his paintings, etchings and related works at the Covent Garden Gallery in London. His career took off when he was asked to produce approximately 90 book cover paintings between 1973 and 1976 for the publisher Corgi. In this early period he was also commissioned to provide art for record album cover sleeves, including heavy metal band Judas Priest's album Sad Wings of Destiny (1976). This was shortly followed by an exhibition of book-jacket and record-sleeve paintings in 1976.1976 also saw books published - 'Micky's New Home' illustrated by Woodroffe , and 'MYTHO-POEIKON' a book of his paintings and work from 1965 to 1976 - see my book ID rja867 for an example of this title.
