The medical side of the Royal Navy at its grass roots has never been recorded.Here is a narrative which covers this aspect and is informative and of historical value.It gives a good picture of a rating's life on foreign stations prior to WW2,it tells of conditions prevailing in Plymouth during the Blitz and describes operations in the Mediterranean in which HMS Stalker took part in 1942/43. The books title alludes to the dispensation of Epsom and other Salts in Medicine,the salty seas,and Old Salts - the sailors. A copy of the manuscript is now preserved at the Imperial War Museum which sets great store on its value.
