It is clear that Una considered that the most significant thing she had done in her life was to dedicate herself body and soul from the age of 28 to 'John' Radclyffe Hall, as lover, companion, comrade in arms, secretary and, latterly, nurse. For this she effectively relinquished husband, child, mother, friends and social approval.
