A tight, clean, sound copy in light yellow paper covered boards quarter bound in black paper with gold lettering on the spine with very minor overall shelf wear with the dust jacket mylar sleeve endflaps glued to the front and back fixed endpapers plus there are the usual library stamps and pocket on the top outside paper edges, the front and back free endpapers, and the title page. The dust jacket shows no visible signs of wear plus it is still in the original library mylar sleeve. A novel set in Georgian London about the literary life of Samuel Johnson. It begins with Dr. Johnson's introduction to the family of a wealthy brewer. He finds himself falling into the social orbit of his wife and settles into a niche among the family. They find themselves dealing with Dr. Johnson's retinue of sycophants, admirers, scholars, and friends. Queeney is the neglected but spirited and prodigiously clever oldest daughter and it is her ironic perspective and witty commentary which drives the story. The author is a winner of the W. H.
