8vo. On 12th August 1898, five young ladies were drowned in a boating accident on Derwentwater. They were on an excursion organized by the Cooperative Holidays Association. The five girls were all Sunday school teachers from Carr Road Wesleyan Chapel in Nelson. This was the worst disaster on Derwentwater in modern times.
