(No "second edition" statement; and like most of Crane's early work, this is printed without a date.) 56 pp. Thirty-seven classic English, French, and German nursery rhymes, both words and music, including "Lucy Locket", "London Bridge", and ""Sur le Pont d'Avignon", to name but a few. All are beautifully illustrated in colors, including intricate historiated borders and 11 full-page full- color illustrations. Nearly square quarto, 17.8 x 18.5 cm., cloth-backed illustrated paper boards and decorated endpapers designed by Crane; with all edges tinted yellow. It is a bit darkened on spine and shows some negligible edgewear, but is a fresh and appealing copy overall. Clean and fresh within, though the tissue guard had adhered to the frontispiece in one spot near the inside margin and . In the original printed dust jacket - some edge chipping, split at the front fold-in, and missing spine - that advertises THE BABY'S OPERA as a companion volume. (Masse, pp. 11, 15 & 31).
