Text incomplete, missing p. 33-34, with a large chip missing at top corner of 35-36, partial loss of text. This is the first edition; it was republished in 1829 with an additional atlas volume. Maine's agriculture, population, natural resources, boundaries etc. Moses Greenleaf's promotion of Maine as a separate entity from Massachusetts began with his "Map of the District of Maine," 1815. When Maine became a state in 1820, he published a revised map; this was followed by the later edition with atlas. Overall fair in a somewhat fragile binding.

A lot of 46 beautifully designed and printed chromolithograph cards, undated (circa 1880-1890), almost all trimmed with silk fringe, and one book with elaborate chromolithograph covers, also trimmed with silk fringe. The cards are for several occasions: Christmas (13), Easter (25), sympathy (3), Valentine's day (2) and birthday (3). Almost half of the cards list the publisher's name: Marcus Ward (15), L. Prange (4), S. Hildesheimer (2), and R. Tuck (1), but the others do not. The book is O MAY I JOIN THE CHOIR INVISIBLE, by George Eliot, and other favorite poems (Boston: D. Lothrop and Co., 1884) bound in beautiful chromolithographed flexible covers illustrated with flowers, printed in deep shades of purple and gold, and trimmed with white fringe.
