Lost Innocents: Righting the Record Report on Child Migration
Imprint: Sydney, 2001
Near Fine in oversized white softcover. Tiny ex-coll. ref. library discard stamp. This report describes a very sorry chapter in Australia's history: an overview of the British policy of resettling unaccompanied children to British colonies, a practice which continued up to the 1950's, with a special emphasis on the children sent to Australia. The report looked at the history of child migration in the 20th century, the involvement of individuals, institutions, agencies and governments and the roles and responsibilities of these to the children. The section of the report covering the child abuse the children received at the hands of individuals and institutions is the most disturbing. 324 pages.. Book Condition: Near Fine
