Wicki, Bernhard
Bernhard Wicki. Fotografien

Imprint: Cologne, DuMont Verlag, 2005
Edition: Erstausgabe
Binding: With Dust Jacket

Fine as new in like dustjacket. Hardocer catalogue to accompany the exhibit of this famous German actors photographic work at the Pinakothek in Munich. 135 pages. Fully illustrated. Text in German. Book Condition: Fine. Jacket: Fine

Vanderzee: Photographer 1886-1983

Imprint: Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A., Harry N Abrams Inc, 1993
Edition: First Softcover
Binding: Softback

Fine as new in original shrinkwrap. A beatuiful photograogic softcover catalog of this important African American photographer. VanDerZee was the first 20th-century African American photographer to achieve commercial success and fame. Between the wars, he ran a photography studio in Harlem, where he documented the famous and the everyday of the Harlem Renaissance more thoroughly than any other photographer. Thanks to the inclusion of some of his images in the 1969 Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition "Harlem on My Mind," he was rediscovered at age 83, living in poverty in Harlem. Before he died, he again took up the camera to photograph many prominent African Americans, including Muhammad Ali, Romare Bearden, and Bill Cosby. Published on the occasion of an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, this first major survey of his work in 20 years presents a full retrospective in high-quality reproductions. Willis-Braithwaite ( Black Photographers, 1840-1988 , 1985) and Birt (humanities, San Francisco State Univ.) provide excellent essays tracing VanDerZee's life and work, while detailed captions accompany the photos. Highly recommended for photography and African American studies collections.. Book Condition: Fine as New. Binding: Illustrated Soft Cover

Wooley, David (Edited By )
The Correspondence of Jonathan Swift, D. D. - COMPLETE IN FOUR (4) VOLUMES

Imprint: Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Peter Lang, 2007
Edition: First Edition
Binding: Hardback , With Dust Jacket

THIS IS THE COMPLETE SET: ALL 4 VOLUMES IN PERFECT CONDITION. The collected letters of Jonathan Swift, D.D., Irish dean and celebrated author of Gulliver's Travels, have long been esteemed with the best to have emerged from eighteenth century England, an age distinguished for the excellence of its letters. In the half century from 1690 to 1740 some two hundred and thirty contemporaries, in all walks of life, thought to preserve his autographs: among them were his literary friends, his printers and publishers, politicians of the day in England and Ireland, his ecclesiastical superiors and other clergy, his friends of the nobility, and closer friends and relatives. He also diligently kept many of their replies. Together these project a marvellously animated panorama not only of his own life, but of his varied acquaintance, and the scenes of London, Dublin, and rural Ireland through a deeply interesting historical era. This entirely new edition prepared by a recognized authority presents over 1500 letters, derived from the earliest authentic texts in manuscript or print, and provides the most comprehensive commentary to date, based upon published and unpublished research of the last thirty years..
